Mason Butler is from Annapolis, Maryland and uses he/his pronouns. He is a junior and is a  Management EIT major.

Mason Butler has been interning with Dominion Prosthetic and Orthotic Purchasing Group (DPOPG) since February and will continue his internship up until the summer of 2023.

We asked Mason to share both his internship and Pamplin experiences with us.

How did you find your internship? What is your title and what have you done for them?

I found my internship through Professor Cordova. My title is Customer Experience Specialist, and I have been doing market analysis, updating their website, and marketing.

What has been your favorite part about the internship?

I think my favorite part of this internship has been the market research and trying to reach out to potential new clients afterwards. It has been interesting to be in a position to actually make a difference or the company I am interning with as they are still small.

What type of student would you recommend to apply to this internship and why?

I have just started, but I would say anyone that is willing to learn and figure things out as they go should apply.

What have you been doing for this internship?

I will be starting out with some market research, and then moving into some marketing and website updates if the internship moves on.

How was the recruitment process?

It was pretty simple as it was through Prof. Cordova and the Management department. The gentleman I am working for contacted VT’s management department directly looking for a student to work with them.

What do you want to do after graduation?

After graduation I would like to work in a field that is constantly trying to innovate, hopefully in a project based setting.

What advice would you give to an incoming Pamplin freshman?

I would say that incoming freshman should at least introduce themselves to their professors, preferably after the first day as that is when everyone else goes up to the professor. Participate in classes and attend, your professors will notice.

What is your favorite part about being a management and or Pamplin student?

My favorite part about being a management student in Pamplin is the network and resources for finding opportunities such as jobs, internships, and meeting employers.
