How did you pick your major or concentration? Does it relate to your job?
I always knew that I wanted to be in business. I am a Management Major with a Human Resource concentration. I found my concentration by meeting with my advisor.
How did you find your job? What is your job title and what do you think you will do for them?
I attended the job fair on campus and meet someone within Pamplin who had worked at TEKsystems previously. I am excited to start my job as Technical Recruiter, where I will help candidates find meaningful employment and companies meet staffing needs within the DC office of TEKsystems.
What do you think the day-to-day roles and responsibilities will be in your position?
I am excited to work with a great team of people every day. I will meet with companies to understand what a successful employee looks like. I will then meet with candidates virtually and in person to help them prepare for their interview to get their dream job.
How did you find out about this position and how was the recruitment process?
I connected with someone through Handshake then we did a first interview online. I then did a job shadow for half day where I got to see what a typical day would look like and was able to speak with other Technical Recruiters and Account Managers. Then I did a final in person interview with the Director of the DC office.

What are you looking forward to in starting your new position?
Working with a dynamic group of people who are driven to meet goals.
Where is your current job located? Are you excited about your work site?
My position is located in the D.C. office for TEKsystems and after visiting for a final round interview I am very excited to work in the office.
Please give a brief description of job, internship, and or school leadership positions that you led to your future career:
I have had two significant leadership jobs that helped me get this opportunity: being the President of my service sorority, Omega Phi Alpha, and also being the Manager of a pool. In both jobs I had to inspire a team of people to accomplish goals. Both required me to use persuasive skills, work hard, and prioritize my time and resources.
What do you want to accomplish within your first year?
I want to gain valuable, real life experience.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In the first 5 years I expect to work hard, achieve goals, and be promoted into a management position.
What advice would you give to someone looking to pursue the same career as yours?
To be a recruiter you need to be a hard worker. My advice is to have an escalating leadership position in an organization you are passionate about and have a summer job. This helps employers see you have the ability to work hard in a future job.
What type of student would you recommend to apply to this job and why? (This may include a student's interests, what they are good at, characteristics etc.)
I think any Hokie who lives the Ut Prosim motto would be a good recruiter. What better way to serve then to help someone get a job they love.
What is your favorite part of being a management and/or Pamplin student?
My favorite part about being in Pamplin and a management student is being able to meet the other students within the college and the professors. I have learned a lot from the different experiences that have been shared with me during my time in Pamplin.
