Felix Peiler is from Lansdowne, Virginia. He is a junior double majoring in BIT (Operations and Supply-Chain MGT) and Management Consulting & Analytics with a minor in Computer Science.

Felix interned for CARFAX in the summer of 2022.

We asked Felix to share both his internship and Pamplin experiences with us.

How did you find your internship? How long did you work there? What was your title and what did you do for them?

A friend at the company reached out and said I should apply, which I did. I interviewed and they offered me a position. I started working in the spring of this year then completed the internship this summer. Luckily I was able to continue into the semester. My title is Project Management intern, and I mainly shadowed the Project Manager for my team, providing support on projects and learning everything I can about the tools they use, the work they do, and how to meet deadlines and achieve KPIs. By the end I was in-charge of my own project and was able to lead the team for two weeks while the person I shadowed was away on vacation. I worked on a couple of projects including A/B testing, page redesigns, cyber security initiatives, and improving urgency from a user perspective. These projects were valued in the $1-$10 million range and I had the ability to lead the team entirely near the end of my internship, after shadowing another project manager for the majority of the summer. The team I worked on was 13 people, including developers, project managers, UX designers and release managers. The highlights were of course the people I got to work with, being super energetic and just a lot of fun each day, especially during off-sites, and I am continuing to work with them into this fall.

What do you want to do after graduation?

Ideally I would get into one of the big 4 to jumpstart my career but I am also extremely interested in Supply-Chain and working for a large company in heavy industry has always been a dream.

What advice would you give to an incoming Pamplin freshman?

Networking, networking, networking, but the real benefit comes from making strong connections, not necessarily a lot of them.

What is your favorite part about being a management and or Pamplin student?

The faculty are extraordinary and really help you to succeed.

What is your LinkedIn?

If any, what organizations are you in and what do you enjoy about them?

ASCM is awesome for connecting with industry professionals and OCVT is great for getting outdoors casually.

How did it feel having a lot of responsibility for your internship?

Amazing, the more responsibility you have, the more connected to the organization you feel, and the more you learn.
