Logan Rudez is from Middletown, Maryland and uses he/his pronouns. He expects to graduate in May of 2024 and is majoring in Business Management with an EIT concentration and a minor in Organizational Leadership.

Logan Rudez will be interning for Aldi in the summer of 2023.

We asked Logan to share both his internship and Pamplin experiences with us.

How did you find your internship? What is your title and what will you do for them?

I found out about the internship as a freshman working in my first dining hall through an upperclassmen friend I had, I thought it was a really interesting internship, so I kept tabs on it and did research on the company until the time came to apply. The internship is a District Manager Internship where I will be shadowing district managers for the summer and seeing if I’m a good fit for Aldi and if they’re a good fit for me.

What do you think will be your favorite part about the internship?

Aldi seems to let District Managers do the job the way they best seem fit as long as they are successful. So, I am very excited to learn from lots of different people on how they do the day to day of their job differently than others.

What type of student would you recommend to apply to this internship and why?

I would recommend people who are into operations and logistics and like to be doing work in person. I expect this internship to take a lot of time and I am looking forward to that, and students definitely should not be expecting to be sitting at a computer and doing busy work. Students should also be quite outgoing for this position as you have to work with a diverse workforce every day.

What do you want to do after graduation?

Hopefully if the internship goes well after graduation I will be a full time District Manager for Aldi in their Frederick Division, most likely located out of the DC/Baltimore area. Long term I hope to start a business as I have attempted to start a few but have not been too successful.

What advice would you give to an incoming Pamplin freshman?

The advice I would give to incoming Pamplin freshman is to not worry too much about what specific major you are choosing, just make sure to try out as many different avenues in the business world to see what you like. A lot of people I know do not have careers that directly correlate with their bachelors major.

What is your favorite part about being a management and or Pamplin student?

My favorite part about being a management student is the opportunities and connections  you can make through Virginia Tech. VT has unlimited opportunities, you just have to look hard enough to find them and do things outside of your comfort zone. Keep yourself busy!

If any, what organizations are you in and what do you enjoy about them?

I am not in any social organizations, though I am currently the Student General Manager of Squires Food Court and Viva market, being directly responsible for 125+ student staff. This takes between 30-40 hours a week.
