We asked Ayah to share both her internship and Pamplin experiences with us.
How did you find your internship? What is your title and what will you do for them?
I found my internship on Handshake. I will be a Community Branch Intern. I will be working in retail banking, exercising DEIB efforts, customer service, and business development initiatives.
What do you think will be your favorite part about the internship?
I think it will be really cool to be in a huge Metropolitan area and working in a field that I am not only passionate about, but also have so much more to learn about. I think it will be a fruitful experience that will really prepare me for post-graduation.
What type of student would you recommend to apply to this internship and why?
There is a lot of ambiguity in the industry, so someone with strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as someone who is able to think about issues and scenarios in a business and global context. Most importantly having really strong intrapersonal skills and being a likeable and collaborative professional is the backbone of and foundation of being able to get many of these opportunities.
What do you want to do after graduation?
I would like to work in Business Development Consulting, and further down the line go back to school and get my MBA.
What advice would you give to an incoming Pamplin freshman?
Although intimidating, I would dive right in freshman year in terms of involvement. There are so many great student organizations that really culminate such a wide variety of resources for students and just going to panels, networking events, and coffee chats has helped me make so many meaningful connections with people in all industries.
What is your favorite part about being a management and or Pamplin student?
There are so many great Pamplin Alumni, so the mentorship I have received has helped me so much in terms of navigating my professional career. The management advisory board is how I got paired with my mentor, and she has helped and supported me tremendously.
What is your LinkedIn?
If any, what organizations are you in and what do you enjoy about them?
I am in PUMP, Collegiate Women in Business, and a Management Advisory Board Mentee. My favorite part about them is the network and professional development opportunities they provide. In just one year I feel so much more confident and capable in regard to entering the professional world.
