George Cartledge

George Cartledge is from Roanoke, Virginia. He recently graduated from Virginia Tech and The Pamplin School of Business with a degree in Management with the EIT - Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Technology option and was a member of the Virginia Tech Men’s Tennis Team.
We recently asked him to share his experiences as a Management major and Pamplin School Business student.

Q: What advice would you provide to an incoming Pamplin freshman?
A: Set the priority on your academics and work hard. Within Pamplin you have endless opportunities at your fingertips, use them.
Q: What was your inspiration for leadership?
A: My Great-grandfather started a business over 100 years ago that is currently in its third generation with my Dad. The company’s focus has always been on the customer and the community it serves. My inspiration to lead comes from my family and the way they conduct business.
Q: If you could give a testimonial about Pamplin and/or the Management Department, curriculum - what would you say?
A: The faculty and staff at Pamplin are committed to providing the tools and resources that students need to succeed in a multitude of different business disciplines. Through Pamplin, I have been able to develop my business skills, and secure a full time position in the software industry.
Q: Please provide a brief summary of your job search - who, when, how did you approach the process?
A: During my job search, I utilized Business Horizons and leveraged advice given by the Management Advisory Board.
Q: George, what is next?
A: I am moving to Boston to work as a Business Development Representative for Oracle.
