Graduation Year: 2025

Major: Management: Consulting & Analytics

Company and Position: I will be working at Morgan Stanley as an Operations Summer Analyst for Summer 2024. I found the opportunity by connecting with recruiters at the Management Department’s Business Horizons breakfast, following up with them afterward, and continuing the conversation at Business Horizons itself.

Internship Location: Baltimore, Maryland. My office will be right on the harbor, which I’m really excited about! I’ve heard both good and bad things about the city, but no place is perfect—and I’m looking forward to exploring the area and nightlife in my free time.

Recruitment Process: The process was intense—a two-hour interview that included two one-on-one interviews and a group assignment. Each interview was a mix of behavioral and experience-based questions. I prepared by writing out answers to common questions, researching Morgan Stanley in depth, and practicing how to tailor my responses based on past experiences.

Looking Forward To: I’m excited to experience a well-structured, large-scale corporate environment. Most of my previous experience has been with startups, so I’m looking forward to learning from a setting with clearly defined processes—and I’m also eager to contribute by improving systems that aren’t yet optimized.

Advice: Even if you don’t know exactly what industry you want to specialize in, that’s okay. Life is always going to be a little stressful and unpredictable. For me, expecting that has helped me stay grounded when things get overwhelming. Don’t be afraid to lean into that uncertainty—it builds resilience.

Recommendation Student: This internship would be great for someone interested in how businesses operate day to day and in using data to help them run more efficiently. If you’re curious, adaptable, and enjoy problem-solving, you’ll thrive.

Favorite Part of Pamplin: The management faculty are some of the kindest, most caring people I’ve ever met—in and out of the classroom.

Mentor or Inspiration: Professor Dirk Buengel has been a huge source of inspiration. His professionalism, deep industry experience, and work ethic are something I truly admire and aspire to model in my own career.
