Graduation Year: 2024

Major: BIT + MCA

Company and Position: I found it through connecting with someone I knew who had previously worked the internship, and the recruiter pushed me to apply for the internship offer I had received. My job title out of college will be Risk & Financial Advisory Analyst at Deloitte and I will be working on IT audits for commercial clients.

Internship Location: I am located at McLean, Virginia in Northern VA. I am excited, as it is close to home and will be around a lot of people I am graduating with.

Recruitment Process: The recruitment process was quicker than I thought it would be. I first had an informal meeting with the main recruiter and then applied to the internship position. Then I received an interview opportunity where I went through the first round which consisted of 2 interviews. After that round I received the offer.

Looking Forward To: I am looking forward to the culture I experienced in the internship and looking at what the full time job work entails. I look forward to learning more about the company and areas of advancement and learning that I can bring towards my career.

Advice: I would say to learn more about the consulting industry before trying to enter. Learn about the different companies within it and different avenues you can use to enter it. Understand the different interviews you may run into so that you are prepared and event network to learn more about the companies that you are applying to. Also pay attention to your schoolwork as much of the factors of receiving an interview relate back to your resume.

Recommended Student: Someone who is looking for a type of job that keeps you on your feet and is dynamic. The problems you may run into with consulting clients are new and will probably be different every time you enter a new project. If you find work fulfilling that you encounter new problems every day, you will probably like consulting.

Favorite Part of Pamplin: The client-related project focus that we have. This relates to consulting, but structuring the projects that we have in classes as if we have a client make it fun and interesting to complete the projects.

Mentor or Inspiration: Professor Simpson was a lot of help when going through some of the interviews I was conducting my senior year. I thought Professor Jamison was also a very inspiring professor with the approach she took to her class and how she was as a person. Professor Hunt was a very interesting person and I appreciated the stories he brought to class. Professor Buengel was also very dedicated to consulting work and I thought he was very inspiring in how to conduct yourself as a consultant.
