Why Managment Consulting and Analytics

Pamplin’s Management Consulting and Analytics (MCA) major jump started my career by giving me the experience and education to be able to be an asset to my team from day one. With top tier professors, intentional and meaningful mentorship, returning alumni and their real-world experience, a robust curricula, and high achieving students to work and learn alongside, the MCA major should be a first choice if you’re passionate about success in business and especially in a consulting career. Notably for me, the capstone project afforded an opportunity as a student to develop my consulting skills and learn not in a simulation but through legitimate experience in front of an actual client facing real challenges. Pamplin has many phenomenal programs and in my eyes, MCA is at the very top of that list.

As a Management Consulting & Analytics (MCA) and Marketing double major, I wanted to enter a field where I could highlight both degrees. The MCA major enabled me to blend my interpersonal and analytical skills as a Field Marketing Manager. Additionally, MCA provided real-world experience in the classroom that has translated to direct success in my career. Everyday, I am grateful for the classes and relationships built in the MCA program, arming me with a strong business foundation to attain my goals.

I decided on the Management Consulting and Analytics (MCA) major because I am the type of person who enjoys working on new challenges in which I am required to broaden my knowledge and skills. My desire to go to work each day and have to break down and face new obstacles is a large contributor as to why I decided on the MCA option. I am extremely grateful that MCA provided me the opportunity to consult for PGIM while I was at school. It certainly aided in getting my foot in the door to eventually work with the organization after graduation.
