The Department of Management is proud to announce that Judy Rady has successfully defended her dissertation, Paradoxum ex Machina: Exploring the Impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence Technologies on the Strategies and Actions of Entrepreneurial Ventures.

Judy’s groundbreaking work delves into one of the most dynamic intersections in modern research: entrepreneurship and generative artificial intelligence. Her dissertation investigates a series of paradoxes that are emerging in business venturing as entrepreneurs grapple with the transformative impact of generative AI technologies. Through deep analysis and theoretical contributions, her research is already shaping the future of how scholars and practitioners understand AI’s role in new venture creation.

Dr. David Townsend, Chair of her dissertation committee, shared the following:

“For the past four years, Judy has been an exceptional Ph.D. student in every respect. She is brilliant, hard-working, dedicated, creative, curious, and most importantly, extremely kind and generous with her time and work. Her dissertation — which tackles a series of fundamental questions at the intersection of artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship research — is poised to make several critical contributions to the field of entrepreneurship. The central focus of her work explores and analyzes a series of paradoxes that are emerging in entrepreneurship in connection with the rise of generative AI in business venturing processes. One of her dissertation essays has already been published in the premier global entrepreneurship journal with several more publications to follow based on her dissertation research.
