Graduation Year: 2025
Major: Human Resource Management
Company and Position: I will be joining Hays Staffing Agency as an Associate Recruitment Consultant, where I’ll run a full 360 recruitment cycle focused on the Property and Construction industry in the DMV region. While the role is sales-oriented, I’m excited to apply the people-first mindset and communication skills I developed through my HR studies.
Internship Location: My role will be based in Washington, D.C. It’s a beautiful city with great food, vibrant energy, and close proximity to family. The position is hybrid, and I’m looking forward to making the most of both the office space and the surrounding community.
Recruitment Process: The process was straightforward but very thorough. I had a recruiter walk me through each stage, ensuring I felt prepared throughout. That support made a big difference.
Looking Forward To: I’m excited to meet new people, grow in a fast-paced, high-impact environment, and continue building my skills as a recruiter. I’m especially looking forward to establishing strong client and candidate relationships.
Advice: Be comfortable with the uncomfortable. I held myself back early in college because I was afraid of change and unsure of what I wanted to do. But once I gave myself permission to explore, I found a role that truly fits me. Trust the process, believe in yourself, and embrace the unknown—it’ll lead you where you need to go.
Recommended Student: Students who are resilient, great at handling objections, love connecting with people, and are motivated by results will thrive in this type of recruiting role. It’s not easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding.
Favorite Part of Pamplin: The community. I’ve met so many people with different perspectives, and I’ve always felt supported by faculty and peers alike. The department truly wants to see students succeed.
Mentor or Inspiration: Professor Eli Jamison has been a constant source of inspiration. She’s passionate, honest, and genuinely cares about her students—not just in the classroom, but as people navigating life and careers. Our conversations, both academic and personal, have meant so much to me during my time at Virginia Tech.
