Graduation Year: May 2025
Major: Human Resource Management
Company and Position: I will be joining GEICO as a Human Resource Development Program Associate. This is a two-year rotational program where I’ll work in three different HR departments to gain broad, hands-on experience in the field. I chose HR because I’ve always been interested in psychology and love working with people—HR is truly the business of people.
Internship Location: GEICO’s headquarters is located in Chevy Chase, Maryland. It’s in a great area, I’m excited to be part of a large organization that invests in its people.
Recruitment Process: I found this opportunity through Indeed. I originally interned with GEICO last summer and was offered a full-time position at the end of my internship. The full-time offer came after a three-round tiered interview process.
Looking Forward To: I’m looking forward to doing work I enjoy, meeting new people, and applying what I’ve learned over the past four years. I’m also looking forward to life after college—hopefully with no homework!
Advice: HR is a smaller major, so it helps to connect with other students and get involved early. Join SHRM and look for opportunities to lead—it will give you valuable experience and help clarify what part of HR you’re most passionate about.
Recommended Student: This role is ideal for someone who’s still exploring their path within HR. The rotational structure allows you to test out different departments and discover what aligns best with your strengths and interests.
Favorite Part of Pamplin: The people. My leadership roles in SHRM and MABS, the support of my professors, and the community I found in my classes made all the difference in preparing me for my career.
Mentor or Inspiration: All of my management professors played a huge role in helping me figure out what I wanted to do—and how to get there. I’m especially grateful for their encouragement and practical guidance along the way.
