David Williamson joined the Department of Management in Fall 2020. From 2014 to 2019, he taught Project Management Fundamentals and PMP Exam Prep in the Department of Continuing and Professional Education. He has also taught business and project management courses at 5 other colleges and universities. At Pamplin, he is teaching a new course, MGT 2114 - Principles of Project Management.
Dr. Williamson has been practicing, teaching, and consulting in Project Management for most of his career. In 2003, he founded the Southwest Virginia Chapter of the Project Management Institute. He has worked and consulted in project management, service management, and PMO development for several large organizations and small firms including Hewlett Packard, Deloitte Consulting, BellSouth, Sears, GE Digital, TMEIC, Advance Auto Parts, LHC Group, Verizon, and Black & Veatch. In 2007, he founded Leverage Point, a small consulting firm specializing in project management and IT service management.
In addition to a BS in Computer Science, an MBA, and a Ph.D, he holds certifications in project management, agile project management, and IT service management.
