Biography

Margaret Deck joined the Department of Management after spending over 20 years in executive leadership roles within the automotive manufacturing industry. A Lean practitioner since 1987, she helped pioneer and lead early Lean transformations in manufacturing facilities and successfully implemented ISO9001 and QS9000 certification systems. Her extensive business experience also includes serving on global acquisition teams, negotiating major customer settlements, leading labor relations negotiations, managing process improvement projects, and engaging in long-term strategic planning.

At Virginia Tech, she teaches courses in Lean and quality systems, leadership, organizational behavior, and management. Beyond the university, she shares her expertise by teaching Lean systems for operational excellence to a wide range of organizations.
