Katie Barongan

Katie is the VP, HR + Recruiting at the iconic DC hospitality company, Clyde's Restaurant Group. Founded in 1963, Clyde's is home to its namesake 'Clyde's' restaurants and music venue, The Hamilton, plus the oldest restaurant in the district, Old Ebbitt Grill. Katie has dedicated most of her career to HR in the hospitality industry, with her previous position being VP of HR for Crescent Hotels & Resorts (CHR), a top 3rd party operator of Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt overseeing 95+ properties nationwide. Before CHR, Katie was the VP, HR of Billy Casper Golf (BCG) for 15 years, the largest domestic owner-operator of more than 150 golf courses, country clubs, and resorts. At BCG, Katie helped the company grow by founding the HR department when they managed just a few clubs, then seeing BCG successfully grow to 150 properties with 8,000 employees nationwide. While at BCG, Katie's leadership contributed to BCG earning several national awards and recognitions, including the "Hire Power Award" from Inc.com, the "Apollo Award" from Helios HR, and SmartCEO's "Healthiest Company Award."

Katie is a Certified Senior Human Resources Professional (SPHR), Society of Human Resources – Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), and a certified Human Capital Strategist (HCS).  Her prior experiences also include talent management for EDS, Deloitte, and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. 

Katie is also a founding member of the DC chapter of Chief, a private network designed specifically for women leaders to strengthen their experience in the C-suite, cross-pollinate power across industries, and effect change from the top-down. Also, Katie sits on the DC Central Kitchen Career Advisory Board.

Katie is a Virginia Tech alumni with a BS in Family and Child Development. When she graduated from Virginia Tech, her first position was as an Admissions Advisor for the Virginia Tech admissions department.
