What is SHRM?
Society of Human Resources Management is the largest Human Resources spreading over to more than 165 countries with more than 285,000 members. They serve the need of HR professionals so they advance in the industry. They make sure to keep HR professionals updated on new laws that might affect HR as well.
Who are we?
VT SHRM is a chapter here at Virginia Tech that helps its members become familiar with the human resources industry before they enter the field so they are better prepared. We meet with professionals in the area who provide pointers and genuine conversations about their personal ongoing experiences. We also attend panels with the local Radford SHRM chapter to better help our understanding of human resources.
In December 2019, several students from various majors within the Pamplin College of Business met to confirm the slate of officers for the Virginia Tech Chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).
SHRM National creates better workplaces where employers and employees thrive together. As the voice of all things work, workers and the workplace, SHRM is the foremost expert, convener and thought leader on issues impacting today’s evolving workplaces. With 300,000+ HR and business executive members in 165 countries, SHRM impacts the lives of more than 115 million workers and families globally.
The purpose of SHRM is to elevate the HR profession and the Virginia Tech Chapter is working to provide programs, opportunities and professional development to meet that purpose.
