Don Neff

Don brings over three decades of high-impact finance and operations leadership experience spanning early-stage ventures to Fortune 500 companies across the media, technology, software, and education sectors. Throughout his career, he has led global accounting, finance, operations, human resources, and information technology teams of all sizes.
Don brings real-world leadership and financial insight into the classroom, bridging theory with practice. His decades of senior-level decision-making, complex deal execution, and global operations experience have enabled him to develop and operationalize business strategies on a global scale. A graduate of Georgetown University (MBA) and Virginia Tech (BS in Accounting), Don is also passionate about mentoring the next generation of business leaders. His engaging teaching style and focus on practical, cross-functional strategic decision-making empower students to navigate an evolving landscape with confidence and acumen.
In addition to his role as an adjunct professor, Don currently serves as CFO of Meazure Learning, a private-equity-backed global leader in assessment and exam-delivery services, providing secure, scalable testing solutions to higher-education institutions, credentialing bodies, and professional associations. Prior to Meazure Learning, Don was CFO/COO of Envision, a private-equity-backed education company, where over four years he led a strategic and financial turnaround that took the company from loss to profitability — growing revenue and margins each year and culminating in a successful investor exit in July 2018.
Earlier in his career, Don served as Vice President of Finance Operations, Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer at Nii Holdings, a $6 billion NASDAQ-listed provider of Nextel-branded mobile services across Latin America. Prior to that, he spent 16 years at AOL during its transformational growth period holding leadership and executive roles across finance and operations where he gained wide-ranging experience across all areas of finance and accounting including significant M&A, global joint ventures, business restructuring, and international operations after beginning his career in the audit practice at EY.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Don is an investor and advisor to early-stage technology companies. A proud Virginia Tech and Pamplin College of Business alumnus, he serves on the Pamplin Advisory Council. He and his family are dedicated supporters of the university, having endowed an athletic scholarship for women student-athletes and served as founding donors to the Global Business and Analytics Complex.
Outside of work and teaching Don enjoys spending time with friends and family including his wife and two daughters (both proud Virginia Tech Alumni), golf, staying fit and all things Virginia Tech sports.
