Prior to joining the faculty at Virginia Tech in August 2017, Phil Thompson was a doctoral student at Case Western Reserve University. His research examines micro-organizational behavior topics including organizational citizenship behavior, impression management, organizational politics, and perceived organizational support and how they influence employee job performance.  Phil has presented his research at numerous conferences including the annual meetings of the Academy of Management, Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Midwest Academy of Management, and Western Academy of Management earning best paper consideration on multiple occasions. Phil holds a B.A. in Communications (Beloit College), a M.A. in Counseling Psychology (McKendree University), and a M.S. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology (Missouri State University). Phil worked as a manager and executive for multiple Fortune 500 companies prior to entering academia.
