Maximilian Stallkamp joins management faculty
Maximilian Stallkamp has been appointed assistant professor in the Department of Management at Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business.
He is one of nine new full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty members at Pamplin this fall. Their addition reflects the college’s commitment to hiring faculty to further strengthen its teaching, research, and business outreach, particularly in areas concerning business analytics, innovation and entrepreneurship, and sustainable global prosperity.
Stallkamp received his Ph.D. in international business from the Ivey Business School at Western University in Canada in 2018. He earned a master’s degree at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, and a bachelor’s degree at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
His research focuses on how firms initiate, expand, and organize their international activities, particularly foreign direct investment in developed and emerging markets. Several of his current research projects focus on firms with digital and platform-based business models.
His research has been published in the Journal of International Business Studies and the Journal of Management Studies.
A proponent of case teaching and case writing, Stallkamp has co-authored a teaching case on a Canadian craft brewery. He taught courses in competitive strategy and global strategy at the Ivey Business School.
A German citizen, Stallkamp has lived in six countries.
