Elizabeth Howard is a graduate of Virginia Tech, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Management Science & Information Technology and was a member/officer of the Zeta Upsilon chapter of Delta Sigma Pi, a co-ed business fraternity. In recent years, she has been drawn back into the world of technology, joining Capital One in 2016 as a Project Manager in Global Finance. She later became a Scrum Master at Capital One, focusing on fostering Agile principles, and is currently a DevOps Engineer in the Commercial Banking Technology department.
She spent her early years post-graduation in the technology industry as a software developer, tester, usability analyst and client relationship manager. She later worked in the banking industry where she translated her technology and client skills into managing commercial and small business product sales and relationships. In 2005, she became an entrepreneur, starting a successful event planning company and later partnering to create a new Virginia winery and wedding venue, Upper Shirley Vineyards. Along the way, Elizabeth has completed numerous certifications to include: Six Sigma Black Belt, Agile Scrum Master, Certified Agile Coach and Team Facilitator.
Elizabeth enjoys giving back to her alma mater in any way she can, whether via her service on the Department of Management Advisory Board, as a founding board member for the APEX Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, visiting classes to share industry knowledge with current students or attending VA Tech Football games and tailgates. Elizabeth grew up in Virginia and currently resides just outside Richmond. She enjoys spending time with her 15-year-old son, running, traveling, wine tastings, reading, and cheering on the Virginia Tech Hokies.
